  • Edge Paddling takes the privacy of our members' data seriously and will only use your personal information for Club administration, Club promotion purposes and for communicating with you about your membership. We seek data on medical conditions and emergency contact details for the purpose of our legitimate interests in helping to maintain our duty of care to members.

    At most Club organised events (e.g. trips, expeditions, training courses) we will take and store photos and videos of you, which may be used for promoting the Club on the Club website and through the Club's social media outlets.

    Your personal data will be held in an electronic form. The way in which we handle your personal data and your related rights are detailed in our separate Privacy Policy document available on the Club website. Note that we will never sell your data without your prior permission.

    We may pass personal data of Club members to third parties who are service providers, agents and subcontractors to us for the purposes of completing tasks and providing services to you on our behalf (e.g. running training courses). However, we will only disclose the personal data that is necessary for the third party to deliver the service and require them to keep your information secure and not to use it for any other purposes. The Club may pass personal data on members to Canoe England or British Canoeing where required to do so by these two bodies in relation to the Club’s affiliation to these organisations, including for insurance purposes.

    You have the right to view the data held about yourself. Membership data will be deleted 3 years after your membership expires, or if you request it is deleted. You have the right to withdraw consent at any time, although you should be aware that withdrawing consent may compromise your ability to be a member of the Club if our duty of care is affected.

    By becoming a member, you consent to the Club retaining and using your personal data for the purposes of Club administration, Club promotion and for communicating with you about relevant Club activities. You consent to sharing of relevant information with other Club members for the purposes of coordinating Club activities.

  • Please read the following carefully and confirm that you have read, understood and agree to the declarations. Feel free to discuss any concerns with an Edge Committee member.

    I confirm that I am over 18 years of age and that I can swim 50 metres in light clothing.

    In joining Edge Progressive Paddling (“the Club”) I agree to abide to the rules of the Club (the Club Constitution), the Club Code of Conduct, Club Operating and Safety Procedures, and other policies and procedures as advised by the Club Committee from time to time.

    I agree not to do anything that could bring the name of the Club, or the sport into disrepute or injure or damage any other person or property.

    I understand and accept that coaches / trip leaders may prevent me from paddling if they believe me to be unfit to do so at the time or not of sufficient experience or skill to handle the conditions or if to allow me on the water may jeopardise the safety of myself or others, or place unnecessary risks on others.

    I have declared any conditions that might affect the safety of myself or other members when kayaking and agree to relevant details and my UK emergency contact details being discreetly shared with Club session / trip leaders.

    I understand and accept that kayaking is an assumed risk activity that may carry attendant risks including injury and death. I am aware of and accept these risks and will be responsible for my own action and involvement.

    Neither the Club nor its officers can accept liability for any loss or injury of any kind sustained whilst on a Club session or activity. If I borrow or hire any equipment I understand it is my responsibility to check that it is fit for purpose for the activities I will be using it for. I understand that I am empowered to ask questions if in any doubt of the fitness of any equipment.

    I understand that it is my responsibility to inform the Club immediately of any changes to the information supplied on this form.
